The Sound of Music exhibition in the Panorama Museum

From November 4 2011, the Panorama Museum (Salzburg Museum) presents a yearlong special exhibition on the Trapp Family.
In order to get an idea and to tout for our guests, we visited the museum.
The show will focus on the true story of the family’s life and contrast the family history with the myth portrayed in the musical and the movie.
Many of the original objects are family-owned, some photographs are from private albums and some are loan collections from collectors or museums and they all document the “real” life of the von Trapps.
Exhibition stands show what the german movies from 1956 and 1958, the Musical from 1959 and the implementation of the Hollywood movie made out of the story.

Entering the exhibition, first of all you see the property of different dresses and garments of Georg and Maria von Trapp. The first floor shows you round through the life of the Trapp family, beginning in the Salzburg-time and ending with the emigration to the USA.
The ground floor introduces you with the books of Maria von Trapp, which she sold so that the beginning of the “Sound of Music” success could take its course.
As above-mentioned, a lot of movies were filmed, but only the Hollywood movie enjoyed great popularity. The musical was performed all over the world, until then it returned to its hometown Salzburg in 2011.
Visiting this exhibition, you can put oneself in the position of the Trapp family and so you go on a journey into the past.

Additionally, more than 180 photos and 100 original objects are presented, which partly are shown for the first time ever in public!
Altogether, the Panorama Museum is really worth a visit.

Following you can see the most beautiful pictures, as well as a fascinating time table.
